During this year of the grant, a new Geology student, Luke Romero, joined the program and conducted field research at a quarry site in central Bohemia known as Krásný vrch. With guidance and support from returning students, he developed his fieldwork skills while contributing to ongoing research at the site. This experience proved especially significant, as the work he conducted there ultimately became the foundation for his master’s thesis.

While in the Czech Republic, the students explored a range of cultural and historic sites, with more time spent in Prague, and also traveled to Poland. These experiences allowed for deeper engagement with regional history, architecture, and artistic traditions while providing valuable context for their academic work. As a result, students developed a stronger appreciation for the cultural landscape of the region.

Many of the students in this cohort had participated in the program previously, allowing them to build on their earlier experiences abroad. This year included visits to new field sites in both the Czech Republic and Poland, as well as more time spent in urban environments. These expanded experiences provided additional opportunities for academic growth and cultural engagement, further enhancing both the personal and professional development of the students.
